Two-thirds of searches now end without a click. Ranking on page one matters less every quarter — being the business the AI names is what brings the phone call.
For twenty years the deal was simple: get to the top of Google and the clicks follow. That deal is quietly being renegotiated.
Today, when someone goes looking for a business like yours, there is a good chance they never see a list of links at all. They ask ChatGPT. They read Google's AI summary and stop reading. Position one still exists — it just gets clicked a lot less than it used to.
Here is the part most people get wrong: this is not the death of SEO. The signals that make Google trust you are largely the same ones that make an AI model willing to repeat your name. Clear structure. Demonstrable expertise. Consistent information about who you are and what you do. The work did not become obsolete. The scoreboard changed.
So that is what I measure — not just where you rank, but whether you actually get named when a real person asks a real question.
No black box. This is the actual monthly work.
Not keywords — questions. The actual things a person types into ChatGPT or Google when they need what you sell. I build a tracked list of them, specific to your business and your area.
I run every one of those prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews and record what comes back. Mentioned? Cited? Invisible? Who gets named instead of you? That is your starting line, in writing.
Schema markup, structured data, clean heading hierarchy, consistent business information everywhere it appears. This is the unglamorous plumbing that decides whether an AI can confidently say who you are — and most small business sites get it wrong.
Answer-first content: the direct answer up top, supporting detail below. It reads better for humans and it is far easier for a model to lift a clean, correct answer from. Padded, vague content does not get cited.
Reviews, citations, mentions on sites that matter in your industry. AI systems are conservative — they recommend what is confirmed elsewhere. Your own site claiming you are the best is worth nothing. Several independent sources agreeing is worth a great deal.
Every month you get one page: which prompts you gained, which you lost, what I changed, what is next. Not a 40-page PDF of vanity metrics designed to look like value.
I cannot guarantee ChatGPT will recommend you. Nobody can, and anyone who says otherwise is selling you something. These systems are probabilistic and they change without warning. What I can do is make you the most citable business in your market and put the measurement in front of you every month, so you can judge for yourself whether it is working.
